What is the safest way to remove soft contact lenses, I have 30 day ones and am nervous of taking them out!
Qualified optometrist Simon Kay BSc(Hons) MCOptom answers this question.
Wash your hands thoroughly and dry. If your eye feels dry, squeeze a few re-wetting drops or all-in-one solution into the eye before attempting to remove the lens. Look upward, and using your right hand, take your middle finger and gently lower the lower lid. Gently use your index finger to slide the contact down to the white of the eye. Using your index finger and thumb, gently squeeze the contact lens between them and remove it from the eye. You could also try holding the top lid with the other hand and pinching out from the edge of the lens.
Ideally you should have another instruction session at the opticians who prescribed the lenses, where it can be done under supervision. There are also many videos on this on youtube!
