Prescription 3D glasses

Question

I was interested in buying a 3D monitor for my PC and 3D TV for living room. I choose to wear glasses instead of contacts due to eye problems, however I have never been keen on wearing 3D glasses on top of prescription glasses. Will there ever likely to be prescription 3D glasses whether they are active or passive. I can see problems with active as it battery powered and required electronics but I'm surprised there is not much available for passive 3D which would include cinema glasses.

Answer Written answer:
Qualified optometrist Simon Kay BSc(Hons) MCOptom answers this question.

If you do an internet search entering "prescription 3d glasses" you will see a number of companies offering passive and active in prescription glasses.  The range may be limited, and may not be available if you have a high prescription. Some opticians may have also begun to supply them.
