Written answer: Eye symptoms with citalopram
I’m three weeks into taking citalopram. The last few days I’ve noticed a sore head, dry eyes, burning eyes with a slight bit of pain and impaired vision in my left eye. Is this just a dry eye side affect from the medication or do you think it could be glaucoma starting from my pupils being dilated on the medication. I’m afraid of loosing my eyesight because of this I have been advised to stop the medication by my doctor immediately as this is not normal. I’ve always had great eyesight before I started the medication.
Written answer: Is it normal not to be able to focus properly in gas permeable contact lenses?
I’m trying gas permeable contact lenses for the first time and I’m on day four of the trial. The irritation has gone down a lot but I want to know if it’s normal not to be able to focus properly?
Written answer: Problems with new glasses
I got my first glasses today – I have very slight problems with seeing far away and a bit of astigmatism – and it’s been a nightmare. My depth perception is gone, my head hurts and everything blurs and changes shape when I move my head. My doctor told me it takes time for the eyes to adjust, but it feels so bad that I can’t function in school like this long enough for adjustment.
On top of that, I can’t see anything close up, say a foot or so away from me; and it really hurts my eyes when I try and fail to.
People are telling me this is normal, but if it is I don’t understand why people would wear glasses? Especially not being able to see anything close is very bad for me because I can’t look at the chalk-board and write what I see (which seems the main reason someone my age would buy glasses?) because I can’t see what I write.
Thank you.

Written answer: Child's glasses are not suitable
I came to Specsavers for my son’s glasses and was told because the lenses were going to be so thick (+8.00), I was told the only glasses he could have are very round ones so I had a choice of round metal ones.
Written answer: Optic disc drusen and driving
My 39 year old son has just been diagnosed with optic disc drusen and is now very concerned that he will be prohibited from driving by DVLA. How bad does this condition have to be for this to happen? Is there any benchmark that can be used to judge?

Written answer: Aware of lens markings on varifocals
When wearing my recently purchased varifocals I am often aware of the lens markings. To a degree it depends on both where and how strong the light source is at the time. However, I am finding it very annoying as it appears like a dirty mark/smudge on the lens which is very distracting.
Written answer: One eyelid droops more then the other
I have found recently that my left eye lid hangs slightly lower than my right eye lid, which is quite noticeable. The more tired I am the worse it gets. I’m not sure if one of my eyes sticks out slight more than the other or if it is just a lazy eyelid. What could be causing this, and can it be fixed. I’m 21 years old.
Written answer: Pain in inner corner of eye and bloodshot
My other half was complaining of pain in the inner corner of his left eye yesterday afternoon. By the evening it looked very bloodshot. He is using eye wash and has used some soothing drops this morning but the drops seemed to causing him more pain.
