Diminished peripheral vision and type of staggered vision

Question

The problem that I'm having is that I'm having regular eye checks and the prescription changed accordingly but I am losing sight quite quickly. I am 41 yrs old. I have badly diminished peripheral vision but am also having something weird going on. The only way I can describe it is that I've got staggered vision. It's as if I was vibrating and looking or kind of similar to when strobe lights go and you lose the smoothness of looking around.
Please can you offer me any suggestions.

Qualified optometrist Simon Kay BSc(Hons) MCOptom answers this question.

Diminishing peripheral vision and the symptoms you describe are not usual unless you have some health problem with your eyes or systemic disease affecting your eyesight. I can only suggest that you ask the optometrist who examined your eyes last time what condition do you have and his or her opinion on this odd symptom.
