Bubbles on the Conjunctiva

Question

I woke up yesterday with a small bubble on the white of each eye, toward the inner corner, just above the lower lids. They did not hurt, just felt like I had a hair in my eye. My eyes felt quite dry and irritated and had a slight discharge. I had worn my contact lenses for quite a long time the day before, and was rubbing my eyes a lot. Is this the cause, or should I be concerned? They disappeared after a few hours.

Answer Written answer:
Paul Morris BSc (Hons) Optometry, MCOptom answers this question.

This sounds like swelling of the conjunctiva (white of the eye) leading to fluid filling the spaces in the tissue causing the bubbles or cysts.

It would be very wise to review this with your Optician should they appear again.
